    As the highest leadership body of the organization and to satisfy its fiduciary duties, the board is responsible for:
    • Serving as a trusted advisor to the AD/MD as they develop and implement Rogue Artists Ensemble’s strategic plan
    • Approving Rogue Artists Ensemble’s annual budget, financial reports, and material business decisions; being informed of, and meeting all, legal and fiduciary responsibilities
    • Contributing to an annual performance evaluations of the AD and MD
    • Assisting in identifying and recruiting other Board Members
    • Serving on committees and taking on special assignments
    • Representing Rogue Artists Ensemble and acting as an ambassador for the organization in the community
    • Ensuring Rogue Artists Ensemble’s commitment to a diverse board and staff that reflects the communities Rogue Artists Ensemble serves

    FUNDRAISING

    Rogue Artists Ensemble Board Members will consider Rogue a philanthropic priority and make annual gifts that reflect that priority. So that Rogue Artists Ensemble can credibly solicit contributions from foundations, organizations, and individuals, Rogue Artists Ensemble expects to have 100 percent of Board Members make an annual contribution that is commensurate with their capacity. Rogue has a yearly minimum "give or get" requirement for each board member of $2,500.

    BOARD TERMS/PARTICIPATION

    Rogue Artists Ensemble’s Board Members will serve an initial two- or three-year term and then be eligible for re-appointment. Board meetings will be held quarterly and committee meetings will be held in coordination with full board meetings.

    Ideal candidates will have the following qualifications:

    • Extensive professional experience with executive leadership accomplishments in business, government, philanthropy, or the nonprofit sector
    • Experience serving on a board or volunteer committee
    • A commitment to and understanding of Rogue Artists Ensemble’s mission and a passion for theater and unique storytelling
    • Savvy diplomatic skills and a natural affinity for cultivating relationships and building consensus among diverse individuals
    • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a passion for improving the lives of Los Angelenos through the creation of engaging artistic programming
    • Service on Rogue Artists Ensemble’s Board of Directors is without remuneration, except for administrative support, travel, and accommodation costs in relation to Board Members’ duties.

    Time Requirements (approximate):

    • Attend and actively participate in at least 75% of board meetings (4 quarterly board meetings, 2-3 hours in length)
    • Attend and actively participate in committee meetings and related work (1-3 hours per month on average as determined by the committee)
    • Attend and actively participate in the annual planning retreat (1 weekend day)
    • Attend special events such as play openings, readings and fundraisers (varies from year to year)
    • Attend new board member orientation (approx. 3-4 hours)
    • Meet with potential donors/funders to make a case for funding the organization, answer questions, etc. (approx. 4 hours annually)
