    Center for Nonprofit Leadership to Preview Equitable Nonprofit Workplace Report at May 3 Nonprofit Leadership Council

    Oxnard, CA – California Lutheran University’s Center for Nonprofit Leadership will host “Aspiring for Equity: Uncovering the Path Forward with the Equitable Nonprofit Workplace Report,” a hybrid event (in-person and virtual) on May 3, 2022. Envision Consulting will present their findings in the 2021 Equitable Nonprofit Workplace Report, developed in partnership with the Center for Nonprofit Management. The report provides deeper analysis into the Southern California nonprofit employee experience through the lens of diversity, equity, and inclusion to give nonprofits a guide for how to attract, retain, and develop their employees for greater social impact.

    "As nonprofit search and strategy consultants, we’ve been tracking the conversations, changes, and movement within our sector, including through the Great Reshuffle,” said Allison Fuller, co-founder of Envision Consulting. “Now with the Equitable Nonprofit Workplace Report, the data underscores some of what we already know concerning DEI and reveals stories that may be new to us. How we use this information to evolve our policies and practices going forward will be key.”

    The event will take place at Cal Lutheran Oxnard Center (2201 Outlet Center Dr # 600, Oxnard, CA 93036) from 9 -11:30am. Reservations are required.     Los Angeles, CA – Child Neurology Foundation (CNF), a national nonprofit organization serving the one in five children in the U.S. who have a neurologic condition and the medical professionals who care for them, announced today that Breanna McCormley has joined its team as the Director of Development. McCormley most recently served as the Regional Advancement Director for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, and has also held development roles for The ChordomaBreanna McCormley CNF Foundation, WakeMed Hospital Foundation, and Health Services of North Texas.

    "After spending much of my career in the rare disease nonprofit space, I'm so excited to continue that journey with an organization that is doing such impactful work on a broad scale," said McCormley.     Los Angeles, CA – Laura Zachar has joined Discovery Cube Los Angeles as Vice President of Development. For 35 years, the Discovery Cube has been working to make a positive difference across Southern California through hands-on science education for educators, their students and more at its original center in Orange County, as well as its newer Los Angeles campus. The Discovery Cube’s core initiatives aim to further the impact of science education and includes STEM proficiency, early childhood education, healthy living, and environmental stewardship. 

    In her new role, Zachar will lead a comprehensive fundraising strategy for Discovery Cube Los Angeles. 

    "I am thrilled to join the Discovery Cube! I feel like it's LA's best kept secret and I'm excited to open the possibilities to the LA community," said Zachar, who has spent 16 years advocating for young people and educational opportunities, including 10 years as an executive leader in the elementary school space. Zachar most recently served as the chief fundraiser for Reading Partners in Los Angeles.

    Monica Lee CopelandLos Angeles, CA – Children’s Bureau is pleased to announce the appointment of Monica Lee Copeland as its new Chief Development Officer (CDO). Copeland will serve as the leader of the organization’s resource and relationship development strategy. 

    A nonprofit leader in how to prevent child abuse and reduce its devastating impact, Children’s Bureau serves 39,400 children and their parents each year in Southern California through prevention programs; foster care, adoption and related services; mental health services to children and families; and state-wide training to family-serving organizations. The agency’s advocacy efforts and broader community impact initiatives inspire movement in the child well-being arena on local, state and national levels.  

    Copeland brings over 25 years of experience in business management, marketing, and fund development, securing over $250 million in philanthropic revenue and billions of dollars for private equity endeavors. Before joining Children's Bureau, Copeland served as the CDO for Planned Parenthood Pasadena and San Gabriel Valley and the Cerritos College Foundation, Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) of Stone Ally, and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of MLC & Company where she led fundraising initiatives for KidSave International, the Pasadena Pops Orchestra, and Agape International, among others.
