Tenemos que Reclamar y Unidos Salvar la Tierra (T.R.U.S.T. South LA), a community controlled organization that is dedicated to building the economic and political power of residents in South Los Angeles, is proud to announce the appointment of Josefina Aguilar as its incoming Executive Director. Josefina will be replacing interim Executive Director Adrienne Snider.
“Josefina is a community organizer who truly understands the cultural dynamic and issues that affect South Los Angeles,” said Board Chair Benjamin Torres. “We’re excited to bring her into the fold and see her vision come to fruition for our organization and community.”
As an experienced city planner and urban developer, Josefina brings a depth of experience in the housing and development landscape. Josefina has more than 20 years’ experience and knowledge of affordable housing, has created resident-controlled housing units, developed policies and procedures, managed government contracts, oversaw city housing programs and cultivated relationships with elected officials.
“I have a personal connection to South Los Angeles and the community,” said Ms. Aguilar. “The mission of T.R.U.S.T. South LA is aligned with my personal priorities as a community planner of more than 20 years, and I’m eager to roll up my sleeves and dig into the work.”
Envision Consulting (Envision), a Los Angeles-based nonprofit consulting firm, was retained to conduct the Executive Director search. Envision sourced and recruited professionals from the Greater Los Angeles area who were familiar with the South LA landscape and experienced in housing and community organizing.
“To help guide and assist T.R.U.S.T. South LA in their search for Executive Director was truly impactful,” Partner Allison Fuller stated. “Josefina’s experience, knowledge of South LA and vision will bring the organization forward and make a difference in the lives of the residents who live in this community.”
Josefina graduated from California State University, Northridge cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in liberal arts, and her Master of Arts from University of California, Los Angeles in urban planning.
