Abraham Lincoln Brigade Archives Welcomes Mark Wallem, J.D. as Incoming Executive Director

Abraham Lincoln Brigade Archives (ALBA), a New York-based educational nonprofit dedicated to promoting social activism and defending human rights, is proud to welcome Mark Wallem, J.D. as their incoming Executive Director to continue preserving its legacy which is inspired by the American volunteers of the Abraham Lincoln Brigade who fought fascism in the Spanish Civil War (1936-39).

“It was clear from the very beginning that ALBA’s impressive collection archives of the fight against fascism, as well as their commitment to economic and social justice today, aligned perfectly with my passion for human rights and freedom for all,” said Mr. Wallem. “My plan is to continue and expand ALBA’s outreach in teaching history, defending human rights, and promoting social activism.”

Mr. Wallem has vast experience working in the nonprofit sector with a proven track record of administering complex operations on a national and international scale. His passion for ALBA’s mission and impact is unparalleled. He has years of experience working with socio-economically burdened communities, reporting to government officials, managing multi-million dollar grants and contracts and maintaining excellent institutional relations with foundations, agencies and other partner organizations to promote and enhance partnerships and collaboration.

Envision Consulting (Envision), a nonprofit consulting firm based in Los Angeles, CA and New York City, NY, was retained to conduct the search. Within 45 days, Envision sourced and interviewed more than 60 candidates for the position and selected finalists to meet with the search committee.
